Mudflats
Community project at the False Creek Community Centre, Vancouver BC, 2022
Mudflats was a community project at False Creek Community Centre supported through the Vancouver Park Board’s Artists in Communities residency program.
Drawing its name from the ecosystem that predated settler development and industry in the False Creek neighbourhood of Vancouver, Mudflats connected local residents and visitors with the area’s built and natural environment through a series of drawing and printmaking workshops, including the creation of a large-scale frottage rubbing of Labyrinth Pier in Alder Bay—a lasting relic of the neighbourhood’s former industrial use. The resulting drawings and prints are installed in the atrium of the False Creek Community Centre.
